Plans have been lodged to build
a 735,000 sq ft development on Ropemaker Street in the City fringe.
Development
manager CORE, alongside Manford Properties and Great Elms Assets, have
submitted a planning application to Islington council to deliver the office-led
mixed use scheme at 20 Ropemaker Street, 101-117 Finsbury Pavement and 10-12
Finsbury Street.
If consented, the developers,
which are being advised by Gerald Eve, will build a 27-storey building with a
stepped design with three levels of basement space on the one-acre site. The
scheme will have 710,000 sq ft of gross office space, as well as 13,250 sq ft
of retail and 10,376 sq ft of SME space with access off Finsbury Pavement.
The existing buildings on the
site, known as 20 Ropemaker Street and Finsbury Court, were built in the late
1970s/early 1980s. Twenty Ropemaker Street comprises seven storeys with one
basement level. Finsbury Court comprises nine storeys to the east and six
storeys on the west, with one basement, part of which is double-height.
